Meet the Hipster in Stone

Meet the Hipster in Stone by Paris-based photographer Léo Caillard and photo retoucher Alexis Persani who "dresssed" Louvre sculptures in modern daily outfits  - a great addition to my earlier post New Old.

To achieve "dressed up" effect Caillard photographed the statues then his friends in similar poses in the hipster outfits. In case if you are curious to know how they made this project, here is the video (probably, should have been in a faster mode):

Contemporary Nomad on Facebook

I have uploaded some pictures from my recent gallery visits.
Please, check out dedicated folders on my Facebook page

Also, make sure to check out Gogolfest of Kiev - a week-long contemporary art festival which this time took place in an abandoned factory. The opening night was really vibrant and very energizing.

Check out the videos by clicking here.

Stay tuned for a big upload on Art Biennale of Venice that I finally visited earlier this month! Still have to find time and courage to face the work of over 3000 pic selection!

And if you want to see daily updates on art and travel, like the page!

Have a nice weekend,

Beyond Love - Happy birthday, Robert Indiana!

It is tough to be an actor of one role or an artist of one artwork. Curiosity brought me to check what else has Robert Indiana who turned 85 today, has created apart from “Love”.

He did various colors of “Love” transforming them into Italian “Amor” and Hebrew "Ahava", some “Hope” that earned him money at least to “Eat”. Too simple but at the same time original… and this is “Art”, my dears!

the original image, with green and blue spaces backing red lettering, served as a print image for a Museum of Modern Art Christmas card in 1964
"The word love was connected to [the artist's] childhood experiences attending a Christian Science church, where the only decoration was the wall inscription God is Love. The colors were an homage to his father, who worked at a Phillips 66 gas station during the Depression." (Megan Wilde for Mental Floss Magazine's)

Unbearable Lightness of Being

Unbearable Lightness of Being is a title of a book I read few years back.
These images probably depict this controversial statement...
Enjoy!
